1. Check the balance you can spend from
Use the current spending-account balance. Include money already received and exclude separate savings. If a payment has not yet left the account, keep it in the list of unpaid commitments.
CashCalm is manual: it does not connect to your bank. Refreshing the balance is what keeps the estimate aligned with recent purchases and pay.
2. Put the next payments in date order
Add each regular payment’s name, amount, repeat interval and next date. Check for rent, council tax, energy, phone contracts, subscriptions and repayments.
Look beyond the next payday as well. A later monthly bill may need contributions from several weekly paydays, so the app can keep a contribution towards it aside.
3. Protect everyday essentials
Allow for groceries and transport across the remaining days. Add a safety buffer if you want a margin left untouched. Avoid entering the same essential cost twice.
What remains after those reservations is your flexible spending estimate. Use the daily guide as a pacing aid, rather than treating each day as a new allowance independent of earlier spending.
4. Refresh when something changes
After spending, update your balance. After a bill leaves, mark that occurrence paid and include the payment in your updated balance. After pay arrives, enter the actual balance and check the next payday.
If wages vary, keep using actual money received. Expected pay is shown separately and does not increase money available today.
Keep your plan current
The estimate depends on what you enter. Review changed bill amounts and refresh your balance after purchases and payments.
