Choose changing pay during setup
In CashCalm’s pay setup, choose “It changes”, then select how often you are paid and your next payday. Enter a cautious estimate for the next payment if you know it, or leave that amount blank.
The estimate is a planning label. It does not get added to your spending balance. When the actual amount arrives, update your account balance to include it.
Plan from this week’s balance
Suppose your current balance is £300 and your next payday is seven days away. You have £80 of bills due, £70 for essentials and a £20 buffer. With no later-bill contribution needed, that leaves £130 for the seven days.
A possible £420 wage next week does not change the £130 available from today’s money. Once received, use the new balance and the following payday to make the next plan.
Use better weeks to prepare for later bills
Monthly rent and other bills may not line up with weekly wages. Review the amounts reserved for later payments before treating a higher-paying week as extra flexible spending.
MoneyHelper’s irregular-income guide suggests planning essential costs around lower income rather than assuming every period will be a good one. Its guidance can help you look beyond this single pay cycle.
If the amount or the date changes
A different amount means updating your balance when received. A different date means updating the next payday as well. A later payday requires the same balance to cover more days of essentials.
You can retain historical pay entries in the app’s income tools. History is useful context, but it does not replace checking the current balance and unpaid payment dates.
Keep your plan current
The estimate depends on what you enter. Review changed bill amounts and refresh your balance after purchases and payments.
